Observes log to determine number of usable lengths to be cut, and presses button on panelboard to lower saw that trims and squares log ends. Cuts log to specified lengths by registering length specification on control panel of machine that automatically measures log and lowers saw to cut log when log reaches selected position. Controls discharge conveyor to transfer log to Head Sawyer (saw. & plan.) 667.662-010 or Gang Sawyer (saw. & plan.) 667.682-030 according to size and texture of log.
