Observes pickup of pulp from cylinder screens by carrier mat and formation of continuous sheets to detect defects in paper, such as breaks, slivers, dirt, and slime spots. Notifies Fourdrinier-Machine Operator (paper & pulp; paper goods) of paper defects and machine malfunctions.
