John Inho earned distinction as a soccer player, leading his 1977 team to the CIAC LL State Championship. He was honored that year with election to the All-Capitol District Conference Team. During his career at Hartford High, he often led his team in goals and assists and was elected team captain his senior year.

John continued to collect honors at Post College. During his first year, he led his team in scoring with 25 goals, also racking up 25 assists. He once scored five goals for Post in a single game. That season he made All-New England First Team and All-American Second Team.

In his most prolific season at Post, John scored an amazing 30 goals and had 27 assists. He was named male athlete of the year and served as team captain that season.

John joined the Hartford Police Department and was decorated with the Medal of Valor, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a police officer. While serving with the police department, he started a free soccer camp for kids who couldn't afford a camp.

He coached at Newington High School for five years, recording an undefeated season in 1987, when his team won the CCC South Conference Championship. John also played for the Hartford Portuguese soccer team from 1978 to 1984.
